Meditative Dance | English spoken

For whom
This course is open to all , men and women, young and less young, with or without dance experience, amateur and or professionals.

The aim is to use dance as a form of meditation to relax, re connect with ourselves and others and renew our energies using natural movement resources that sustain the body in the act of meditation. We will warm up  and prepare the body by means of basic breathing tecniques to balance our meridians ( Yin Yang energies), awaken our senses, find an aligned and strong spine and strenghten our core. We will move on sacred world music taken from wisdom traditions ( Western sacred medieval, Eastern, Sufi meditational)  to experience various types of energetic movement. Free dancing and simple set of choreographies.

For this course I will draw from 25 years practice as a dance teacher and  performer in Egyptian Oriental dance , in which meditation and holistic dance practice have shaped my manner of teaching and experiencing movement. I am currently studying Do Yin Yoga training, an ancient form of Japanese Yoga used as a healing practice to balance our energies by means of Yoga stretches, acupressure self massage to let the life energy flow in our body and meditation tecniques. In addition I am studying Hilal dance, a holistic dance form connected to Oriental origin and developped into a integrated, connected form of dance movement.

Laura de Gaspari studied in London( 1987-92) with renowned dancer en choreographer Suraya Hilal and toured in her pioneering company The Dance Theater of Egypt composed of a full Arab orchestra . Through that experience Laura has discovered the richness and beauty of the soul of Egyptian / Arabic dance and the power of its music.  Since then Laura has been devoting herself incessantly to teaching, researching ( through travelling in Egypt and her background in philosophy) and performing with live music ( UK, Belgium). In the Netherlands, Laura works with a small ensemble of musicians who perform the art of Classical Arabic with voice and dance.
